Record price for Strad

Tarisio’s Fall fine instrument auction has come to a close and the hammer price on the Molitor Strad was a world record; 3.6 million dollars. There is no question the violin is nothing short of remarkable and I hope it finds a nice home. All that is known is that user “mamaponyo” is the proud new owner. He or she will join history as having owned it along side Napoleon Boneparte and the Curtis Institute. I wonder when this violin will make headlines again. Also, the little Nicolo Amati gem sold for $500,000.00, the Ruggieri (falling considerably short of the estimates) for $155.000.00, and the immaculate J.B Vuillaume beating estimates, for $175,000.00.
