Molitor Strad home in USA

I previously reported that Tarisio auction user “mamaponyo” was the proud new owner of the Molitor Strad earlier this year. Well, it turns out that “mamaponyo” is non other than violinist Anne Akiko Meyers. This american talent now owns two Strads; the other being the 1730 “Royal Spanish.” I’m a little suspicious how in this economic climate with fine-arts popularity where it is, how this is manageable for any violinist. But, just the other day, The New York TImes ran a small piece about Pinchas Zuckerman’s new 3-bath 3-bedroom condominium and violin collection — which proves that violinists of all ages are finally benefitting from the record-high sales of classical CDs and concert-hall turnouts.
